The F-1 student visa is intended for a degree-seeking student pursuing a full course of study to achieve a specific education or professional objective at a U.S. academic institution. International students in F-1 status make up the majority of international students at the Colorado School of Mines.
The J-1 Exchange Visitor program provides academic programs to facilitate exchange for educational and cultural purposes. International students on the J-1 visa at the Colorado School of Mines are often participants of an exchange with an international partner university, or may be participating in a program funded by the U.S. government, home country government, or an international organization.
