Faculty Resources

Welcome to our faculty resource page!  Here at Mines, faculty have the opportunity for international travel in all sorts of ways.  Whether you are teaching a class abroad, leading students on a humanitarian trip, attending international conferences, or traveling for a class field trip, the International Office is here for you.  This page provides resources to help prepare you for your international travel.
Faculty-led programs abroad: Getting Started

If you are interested in planning a faculty-led program abroad, the first step is always to come talk to the International Office.  We are happy to meet with you to make the process going abroad as smooth as possible.

Before we meet, we ask that you review the faculty handbook for a complete guide on faculty travel abroad: https://www.mines.edu/oip/wp-content/uploads/sites/62/2017/10/Fac-Guide-to-Study-Overseas.pdf.

Visiting Graduate Research Associates

Colorado School of Mines prides itself on its research done in conjunction with other schools around the world. Additionally, the Mines faculty have a wide range of international experiences. The international office facilitates the travel of Mines professors and welcomes visits from scholars everywhere. Graduate Research Associates from exchange partner institutions who are interested in coming to Mines should explore the specific department websites to learn more about research opportunities at Mines.

Visiting Scholars are managed through International Student & Scholar Services. For information on the process, please visit their website.

International Teacher Identity Cards (ITIC)

The International Teacher Identification Card is available for full-time teachers or professors. The teacher card (ITIC) is an internationally recognised ID card that offers numerous discounts and savings, at home and abroad.  To learn more about the card, visit their website here.

Mines faculty may obtain an ITIC card through the International Office. The cost is $25.00 and may be paid in cash or check.

Emergency Procedures

While we do our best to mitigate the risk with traveling abroad, we recognize that sometimes things happen that are outside of our control.  For this reason, we have created an Emergency Procedures document to prepare you for anything that may go wrong with your international travel.

The Emergency Procedures guide is found here.
