Title IX Information and Protocol

Each student who takes course(s) at a foreign institution is required to complete the prior approval form:

Undergraduate Prior Approval
Graduate Student Prior Approval Form

The prior approval form is the student’s guarantee that if the course is completed successfully (undergraduates earning a grade equivalent to a Mines “C” or graduate students earning a grade equivalent to a Mines “B”) transfer credit will be awarded.

The student will be advised to identify courses based on the departmental flow chart and seek approval from the appropriate faculty. The goal is to take courses that would normally be taken at Mines and thus avoid delaying graduation. Courses selected must be approved by the student’s advisor, Departmental Chair, and in the case of a course from an outside department (e.g., Math or LAIS) the designated academic advisor for transfer courses.

OIP maintains a list of courses that have been approved in the past but this list does not guarantee transferability for all majors. The Office of International Programs maintains a list of courses that have been approved in the past for transfer to Mines. This list can be found here.
