NOTE: All candidates MUST attend one (1) Info Session to be eligible to apply to the Resident Advisor position. Make sure you plan ahead and make time in your schedule!

NOTE: Candidates who move on to the Interview Weekend MUST be available on Saturday, February 5 OR Sunday, February 6, 2022.

3. Attend an Info Session

All candidates MUST attend one (1) Info Session to be eligible to apply to the Resident Advisor position.

These sessions will provide an introduction to working within Residence Life, an overview of the Resident Advisor position and responsibilities, time commitment, compensation and benefits, application and interview process, and a Q+A!

4. Write Your Cover Letter

The Resident Advisor application requires a cover letter to be written. The cover letter should include the following responses in a typed 1-page response, single-spaced, in 12-point Times New Roman font: 

  • Why you are interested in the RA position
  • Share strengths and attributes that may be helpful and unique to you in the RA position 
  • How you would support learning in your community

5. Submit your application

Complete the electronic application between Friday November 12, 2021 and Monday, January 17, 2022. The link to the application is to the right!

To complete the application, you will need: 

  • Time to complete the application. There are a variety of questions ensuring you have read the RA job description, understand the timeline of the process, and have provided your information. 
  • To upload your cover letter to the application link. 
  • To attend 1 information session to continue your candidacy, which can be attended before or after your application is submitted.
6. monitor your email

After the application closes, the Selection and Recruitment Committee will review all candidates.

Candidates who are eligible to continue through the selection process will be sent an invitation via email to participate in the Interview Weekend (Saturday, February 5 and Sunday, February 6, 2022). These invitations will prompt candidates to select one (1) day of the Interview Weekend to attend (candidates do not need to attend both days).

Candidates who are not eligible to continue through the selection process will be notified via email.

Roles of Residence Life Staff

Residence Life Coordinators
Residence Life Coordinators are Master’s degree holding individuals who are directly responsible for managing multiple residential buildings, designing and implementing programs within halls, and overseeing the maintenance, housekeeping, safety and disciplinary standards within their residential communities.

Community Directors
Community Directors are paraprofessional staff members that live and work in the Residence Halls or Apartment Communities while attending school full time. They are responsible for the day-to-day operations of their assigned hall or community, including providing support services directly to students, supervising Resident Advisors (RAs), and overseeing all educational, social, and operational activities.

Resident Advisors
Resident Advisors (RAs) are full-time students who live in the Residence Halls or Apartment Communities and are responsible for a particular floor/building of residents. They provide support, act as a resource for students, coordinate social and educational programs, and work with one another as a group to enforce community rules and university policies within the halls.
