Upper-class Student Housing Timeline
HOUSING UPDATES FOR 2020-2021
Residence Life will be announcing new housing configurations and processes for the coming school year as soon as possible. We will update our website and communicate these changes via email to inform all students as changes are determined and if any actions are needed. Please continue checking your Mines email and this website for more details and housing information to come.
Residence Life is waiving the first-year residency requirement for the 2020-2021 academic year. Members of the Class of 2024 will not be required to live on-campus in an effort to help lower density in the residence halls while allowing students to commute from home or pursue other housing options off-campus. Any first-year student intending to live off-campus must complete a first-year off-campus residency form by June 26, 2020. Any first-year student intending to live on-campus must complete a first-year residence halls housing application through the housing portal on Trailhead by June 1, 2020.
If you are going to be a second-year undergraduate during the 2020-2021 academic year, please contact email@example.com for sophomore housing availability in the new 1750 Jackson or Maple Hall. The application for Mines Park Apartments is currently available through the housing portal on Trailhead. If you are currently assigned to Sophomore Housing and have any questions or concerns regarding your assignment, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note: the application/assignment information for 1750 Jackson and Maple Hall will not be available through the housing portal until July 2020, once our first-year application process has closed.

CURRENT RESIDENTS at Mines Park Apartments
Month of February
The Renewal/Vacate Process for all upper-class students currently residing at Mines Park Apartments will begin on February 1 at 10 AM and will remain open through the end of the month. The application can be found on the Housing Portal through your Trailhead account (Campus Life Tab > Housing & Residence Life > Residence Life Housing Portal link).
This process enables current residents to submit their intent to renew their student housing lease agreement for the following year (June 1 – May 31) or confirm their intent to vacate at the end of their current lease term.
Mines Park Apartments
The application for all upper-class students will begin on March 1 at 10 AM and will remain open until March 3 at 11:59 PM. The application can be found on the Housing Portal through your Trailhead account (Campus Life Tab > Housing & Residence Life > Residence Life Housing Portal link).
Keep in mind that if you receive an offer for a space in Maple Hall or 1750 Jackson and you accept that offer, you are ineligible to apply for housing at Mines Park.
An application does not guarantee housing.
Applications: All completed applications that are submitted with a paid $50 application fee during the designated application timeframe will receive first priority in the housing lottery. You may submit your application through the Housing Portal through your Trailhead account (Campus Life Tab > Housing & Residence Life > Residence Life Housing Portal link). The time you submit your application has no bearing on the lottery as long it is submitted during the application timeframe (dates and times provided above).
Lottery Selection & Housing Offers: Housing will be offered based on a lottery selection process starting the week after the application closes. Housing offers will be emailed to applicants selected through the lottery process and must be accepted or rejected within two business days. If you accept a housing offer and agree to the student housing agreement within the housing portal, you are responsible for all charges associated with that room/unit for the designated contract dates. You are no longer eligible to request an application fee refund once you are offered housing.
Waitlist: If housing is no longer available, applicants that have NOT been selected/offered housing during the initial lottery process will be added to a waitlist. Applicants on the waitlist will remain eligible to receive a housing offer through the lottery selection process through spring 2020. Please do not be discouraged as many spaces continue to become available at Mines Park into the spring and summer months.
Waitlist Removal & Application Fee Refund Requests: If an applicant no longer wishes to remain eligible for a housing offer, they may request to receive their $50 application fee refund, cancel their application and be removed from the housing waitlist.
A request for an application fee refund can be submitted via the Application Fee Refund Request Form.
If eligible and approved to receive an application fee refund, Residence Life staff will prepare the paperwork and submit to the refund to the Cashier’s Office within 5 business days. Please allow up to 14 business days for the $50 to be refunded to your credit card statement or debit account.
Refund requests are no longer accepted 180 calendar days after the initial date of payment.
