Reporting Options
Community members have several ways to report concerning behavior to the Community Standards team.
Student Guidance
Procedures for Administrative Conduct Meetings, appeal information, and more guidance for students who are involved in the conduct process as someone who may be accused of violating a policy violation in the Student Code of Conduct.
Responding to Reports
This page provides more information on how Community Standards could respond to a report and how they work with other offices on campus to support the Mines community.
The Amnesty Policy
The Amnesty Policy exists to encourage students to seek help in an emergency situation where they might have violated a drug or alcohol policy, by providing an educational intervention to students in lieu of the formal conduct process. In order to qualify for The Amnesty Policy a student must complete all four steps:
- Call emergency services directly
- Remain with the person who needs help until emergency responders arrive
- Fully cooperate with the emergency responders
- Meet and fully cooperate with Mines Administrative Staff after the incident
Expunging Your Disciplinary Record
During in their final semester at Mines, a student with a disciplinary record may request to expunge their record, unless their policies violated involved violence, academic integrity, any violation under the Office for Institutional Equity and Title IX and/or if their policies violated resulted in suspension, expulsion, housing termination, or revocation or withholding of a degree. Outside of these limitations, students can request their record to be expunged using this form through the Office of Community Standards. Disciplinary records may still be provided when required by law or by request of the student.
Requests for expungement are at the discretion of the Director of Community Standards or their designee. A student’s completion of sanctions, current demeanor, the nature of the policy violation(s), and subsequent conduct of a student will be considered. The completion of this form does not guarantee records will be expunged. You will receive an update on whether your expungement request was approved, in writing.
