Mines Sustainability Scavenger Hunt:
Stop #7

Alderson Hall!

If you’re in Chemical or Biological Engineering or doing creative things with the Trefny Innovation Instruction or Writing Centers, you’ll find yourself at Alderson. Be sure to take a look at the four-story stained glass window, which illustrates the concept of “flow”.

Alderson is a great example of predictive and preventative maintenance (PPM)The facilities maintenance team on campus ensures items like filter replacement and outside air-damper and excessive run-time analytics are all monitored to increase occupant comfort and the life-cycle of building HVAC systems. PPM also can result in up to 20% savings annually.

Through McKinstry’s powerED program, Mines has access to the Reveal dashboard that monitors utility spending, savings, opportunities for energy efficiency and building analytics to make sure equipment is running as designed. This is a snapshot of the analytics page. Note that less faults are happening over time, pointing to more optimized buildings.

powerED engineers designed custom analytics on the Reveal dashboard to allow Facilities Management easy access to building energy opportunities. Create a free PeoplePowerPlanet account to see the dashboard and be entered to win one of several $25 or $50 gift certificates!
