Practice (or Apply yourself)
The PRACTICE section of the SE@M distinction involves research projects, volunteering, and internships (10 points minimum).
- Sustainable energy-related internship or research internship (10 points/summer/semester)
- Social/community engagement (such as training sessions, or community development projects) (describe commitment and propose)
- Solar Decathlon or energy work on Tiny House
- Lead technical role (10 points/semester)
- Participant role (5 points/semester)
- Industrial Assessment Center Certificate (20 points)
- Present research results at external conference or publish journal paper (10 points each)
SE@M will have limited funds to support travel or publishing expenses
- Present research results at Graduate Research and Discovery Symposium (GRADS) or Undergraduate Research Symposium (5 points each)
- Publish at article at Mines Undergrad Research Magazine Reuleaux (5 points each)
- Student competitions (5 points / semester, suggestions below)
- MWB project (5-10 points/semester)
Presenting at GRADS, Undergraduate Research Symposium, and Reuleaux can count up to 5 points each. In addition, SE@M scholars can apply and are encourage to present their research work at regional or national conferences. SE@M can help partly cover some of the traveling expenses.
