Mines is dedicated to educating our community, including students, staff, and faculty members, about the prevalence and impact of sexual violence, how we can better support and believe survivors, and how we can all be better community members.

Sexual Assault Awareness Month Events

The Clothesline Project started in 1990 in Cape Cod, Massachusetts to raise awareness about sexual violence. Survivors, and supporters, have an opportunity to decorate a shirt with their story or a unique message about the impact of sexual violence on them, a friend/family member, or society in general.

You can decorate a shirt:

  • Monday, March 28 – Thursday, March 31
  • 8 am – 5 pm
  • Ballroom C

*All materials provided.

Shirts will be displayed in the Student Center during the month of April.

Collaborators:

  • The Student Life Sexual Harassment and Assault Prevention and Education (SHAPE) Committee
  • Title IX & Equity Compliance Office
  • Students Advocating Against Violence and for Education (SAAVE)

Walk a Mile in Their Shoes

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is an international march to stop gender based violence, rape, and sexual assault. The iconic Walk a Mile shoe is a red high heel. However, we wanted to broaden the conversation to include all people who have been impacted by sexual violence.  All shoes are welcome.

You can attempt to walk in someone else’s shoes:

  • Wednesday, April 20
  • Noon – 4 pm
  • Student Center Atrium and the Maple Plaza

*Shoes will be provided or you can bring your own to donate to the cause
