Sexual Assault Awareness Month Events

The Clothesline Project

The Clothesline Project started in 1990 in Cape Cod, Massachusetts to raise awareness about sexual violence. Survivors and supporters have an opportunity to decorate a shirt with their story or a unique message about the impact of sexual violence on them, a friend/family member, or society in general.

  • Monday, April 3rd – Friday, April 7th
  • Environment Room – E132

*All materials provided.

Shirts will be displayed in the Student Center during the month of April.

Collaborators:

Walk a Mile in Their Shoes

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is an international march to stop gender based violence, rape, and sexual assault. The iconic Walk a Mile shoe is a red high heel. However, we wanted to broaden the conversation to include all people who have been impacted by sexual violence.  All shoes are welcome.

You can attempt to walk in someone else’s shoes:

  • Tuesday, April 4th, 2 – 6 pm
  • The Walk will start at Beta and end in the Student Center, Avery Room

*Shoes will be provided or you can bring your own to donate to the cause

Denim Day

Wear Denim on Wednesday, April 26 to stand up against sexual violence and to demonstrate that clothing someone wears is never an excuse for sexual assault.

Pick up a “why denim” button:

  • Booth in Student Center – Monday (24th) and Tuesday (25th), 11:30 am – 1:30 pm

*Free for students. Faculty/Staff are asked to donate $1 – $5 for the privilege of wearing denim during a work day. All donations will go to the Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CCASA).
