Assessing impact of course design structure on student performance

Project Goals and Description:

This project will determine if the levels of course structure in first year courses at Mines relate to student performance. Course structure varies from low (lecture only, limited homework, high stakes exams) to high (little lecture, lots of active learning, many homework assignment, frequent lower stakes assessments).

MENTORING PLAN

Dr. Shaffer will meet with students weekly to discuss the project goals and progress. Students will be required to complete a pre-project description and alignment of expectations will be discussed throughout the project.
