Project Info
Direct shear testing of rock and soil specimens
Reza Hedayat | hedayat@mines.edu
In this project the undergraduate student researcher will work with Dr. Hedayat and a graduate student to conduct experiments on layers of soil and/or rock as a simulated medium for deep faults in the ground. Using a geophysical system, we will evaluate waves propagated through the rocks to better understand earthquake friction processes. This project provides a unique opportunity for the student researcher to conduct high quality research with state of the art equipment and has high potentials for journal publications and presentations at the scientific meetings/conferences.
