Human-robot Teaming for Underground Exploration

The overarching goal of the project is to enable teamwork of robots and humans to collaboratively search for anomalies, objects, and victims, and to restore infrastructure in the underground environment (or other GPS-denied environments). The applicant will work with Dr. Zhang, PhD students and domain experts to collect, document, and preprocess robot teaming and human-robot teaming data in exploration applications.

Student Preparation


Qualifications

Programming in C++ or Python in Linux OS. Knowledge on Robot Operating System is preferred.

Time Commitment

25-30 hours/month

Skills/Techniques Gained

Knowledge and programming skills on algorithms and software systems for intelligence.

Mentoring Plan

Students will be included in a big team working with both faculty and graduate students, though individual tasks will be assigned to the URF students.
