Multiphase Flow of Gas-Liquid-Liquid-Solid Systems

Amadeu Sum | asum@mines.edu

This project aims to experimentally measured the flow regime and dispersion of phases under multiphase flow conditions. The experimental data will be later used in modeling with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to understand the flow behavior and dynamics.

Student Preparation

Qualifications

None. The students will learn the necessary skills while doing the project.

Time Commitment

30-40 hours/month

Skills/Techniques Gained

Students will gain analytical skills, and fundamental knowledge on fluid flow and mixing. In addition, the students will learn about computational fluid dynamics, including images techniques and data processing.

Mentoring Plan

I will regularly meet with the student on a weekly basis to discuss the project and follow-up on the progress.
