Project Info
Structural studies of amyloid proteins
Judith Klein | judithklein@mines.edu
This project will investigate structural features of amyloids using a variety of different spectroscopies. Unlike other studies, our project will not only study the formation of amyloid fibrils, but also their degradation.

Grand Engineering Challenge: Engineer better medicines
Student Preparation
Qualifications
A good knowledge of instrumental analysis and a basic understanding of protein biochemistry.
Time Commitment
50 hours/month
Skills/Techniques Gained
Express and purify proteins, investigate secondary and tertiary structure of proteins with different spectroscopies.
Mentoring Plan
The student will work together in a team of graduate students and postdoc. The faculty advisor will communicate with the student on a daily basis.
