Synthesis and Electrochemical Evaluation of PGM-free catalysts

Svitlana Pylypenko | spylypen@mines.edu

This project includes synthesis of platinum group metal-free catalysts for application in several important catalytic reactions, such as oxygen reduction reaction. The goal of this work is to integrate PGM-free transition metals into the network of nitrogen-doped carbon using a range of precursors and relate catalyst composition and morphology to their catalytic activity. Catalytic activity and selectivity will be evaluated using electrochemical methods with a rotating ring disk electrode set-up.
