The goals of this project are interesting because this work contributes to the growing interest in understanding how and to what extent the extractive industries (mining and oil and gas) are contributing to sustainable development in and around the areas where they operate.
The project is led by an anthropologist and a mining engineer--both located in the mining engineering department. The project team also includes a PhD student and other graduate and undergraduate student researchers. We have weekly group meetings and the graduate students provide mentoring to the undergraduate students.
