Chelsea Panos ’15

Pursuing a PhD in hydrology, Chelsea Panos works with the City and County of Denver on a stormwater modeling project. “Stormwater is this cool, untapped resource right now, and there’s so much research popping up to look into how we can use stormwater and treat it to increase both water quantity and quality,” Panos said. The project looks at reurbanization’s effect on stormwater, focusing on developing a stormwater-modeling tool to implement best management practices in urban areas. Panos regularly goes out into the field to streamgauge and downloads the data to use in her model to determine how valuable of a resource stormwater could be to significant urban growth.
