Brenda Dodson

I am a pyrography (wood burning) artist from Golden Colorado and current first-year student at Mines. My major is environmental engineering and I love incorporating nature in my art.

Artist Statement: 

As an artist, my favorite medium is wood burning. I used to do a lot of commissions of pet portraits for people in my community. My favorite part of pyrography is figuring out how to capture the unique features of an animal only using one color (burnt wood). I love animals and find most of my work is centered around wildlife. When I’m not wood burning, I love mediums like water color and I have just begun using digital.
