University Honors and Scholars

University Honors and Scholars at Mines

University Honors and Scholars programs are designed to help students follow their curiosity, explore new perspectives and build a distinctive Mines experience both inside and outside the classroom. All Mines students are eligible to apply, with programs offering different ways to connect technical education with the humanities, engaged research, STEM teaching, energy futures, leadership and policy, in order to foster an interdisciplinary approach for some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

Opportunities include First-Year Honors, McBride Honors in Public Affairs, Undergraduate Research, Vertically Integrated Projects for Experiential Research (VIPER), Teach@Mines, Future Energy Scholars, Grand Challenges Scholars, ROTC and support for Nationally Competitive Scholarships.

University Honors and Scholars programs at Mines create student-centered communities where Orediggers can challenge themselves, build connections across disciplines and develop the creativity, critical thinking, adaptability and leadership skills that complement a Mines technical education.
