Mandatory Retirement Plans

Mines does not participate in the Social Security program. In lieu of Social Security, most non-student employees must enroll in the Colorado Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA).  PERA has two types of plans- a DB Plan and a DC Plan.  The employee contribution is set to 11% as of 2024.  Mines’ employer contribution is set at 20.95%.

PERA DB & DC

The PERA DB Plan is a pension plan where your contributions are invested by professionals for you and you receive a lifetime benefit.

In the PERA DC Plan, you direct your investments to an array of fund options, and retire with the account balance you have at that time.
