At Mines, we know that life changes, and when it does, your benefits may need to change too!  Employees can make midyear benefit changes when they experience a qualifying life event.

When can I make changes?

  • Promotion/Job Changes can enroll within 31 days from their date of hire.  Benefits will begin on your first day of the promotion/job change.
  • Current emlpoyees, who have a qualifying life event, can enroll within 31 days from the date of the qualifying event.  Benefits will be effective on the date of the approved qualifying event.
  • All employees will have the option to enroll or make changes annually during open enrollment.

Qualifying Life Events

Qualifying events that may allow for changes outside of your new hire eligibility period or the annual Open Enrollment period include:

  • A marriage, common-law marriage, civil union, divorce, or legal separation.
  • The death of a spouse or other dependent.
  • The birth or adoption of a child.
  • You or your spouse experiencing a change in work hours that affects benefits eligibility.
  • Loss or gain of a spouse’s coverage through their employer.
