EMERGENCY / SERVICE OUTAGE MEMORANDUM

To: Coolbaugh Hall Occupants

Outage Date: April 14, 2020
Outage Time: 7:30am – 4:00pm
Purpose: To install a new supply air branch to serve CO 166
System(s) Involved: Supply and Exhaust Air
Effect(s) on Occupants: There will be intermittent or no laboratory exhaust ventilation as well as low supply air flow that may cause temperatures to fluctuate due to maintenance work at the north portion of Coolbaugh Hall. To prepare for this shutdown you will need to:
• Cease all work with chemicals during the maintenance period.
• Shut down experiments that generate hazardous contaminants (particulates, dust, ozone, etc.) and heat.
• Close all chemical containers and properly store them, including those within the laboratory hoods.
• Verify your waste containers are closed.
• Submit full waste containers for waste pickup.
• Close/lower the sash on your chemical hood.
• Close all gas cylinder valves except for inert gases such as nitrogen and argon.
