Purpose: To finalize new electrical ground connections.
System(s) Involved: Electrical Power and Laboratory Ventilation.
Effect(s) on Occupants: There will be no power in the building for the duration of the outage.
• Power down all computers prior to the outage.
Emergency systems will be operating on the standby generator, but air handling units and exhaust fans serving the laboratories in the building will be affected. This could impact both supply and laboratory exhaust air flow in the laboratories. Laboratory air flows as well as fume hoods may be impacted.
There will be impaired laboratory exhaust ventilation due to this work. To prepare for this shutdown you will need to:
• Cease all work with chemicals during the maintenance period.
• Shut down experiments that generate hazardous contaminants (particulates, dust, ozone, etc.) and heat.
• Close all chemical containers and properly store them, including those within the laboratory hoods.
• Verify your waste containers are closed.
• Submit full waste containers for waste pickup.
• Close/lower the sash on your chemical hood.
• Close all gas cylinder valves except for inert gases such as nitrogen and argon.
