What is TRAIL?

At Mines, earning a degree can mean so much more than completing coursework. Through our cutting-edge TRAIL initiative, students can now enhance their degree, their skillset and their marketability by engaging with this exciting and rewarding two-part program.

From performing undergraduate research, taking on leadership roles, to taking advantage of on and off-campus employment opportunities, students can enrich their university experience far beyond the four walls of the classroom. They will round out their skillset, develop meaningful connections and stand out to future hiring managers (you!).

We know you need interns and employees with a wealth of real-world skills, and now you can rest assured that your Mines hire has the skills you’re looking for. The Oredigger Record of Experience (ORE) is an official extracurricular transcript that gives employers real insights into the skills students have developed outside of the classroom. By validating the experiences and learning that occurs across campus and in our community, Mines can provide the reassurance that your applicants have what it takes to be a perfect fit!

Experiential Major Menus

Uniquely tailored to each undergraduate major of choice, these menus offer a wide array of extra-curricular activities that complement and enrich the traditional classroom experience.

Students can strengthen their leadership skills. Engage in teamwork opportunities. Evolve how they communicate and understand others. Students use these EMMs to find opportunities that will help them grow and develop both personally and professionally, setting them up for success wherever the future takes them.

Oredigger Record of Experience

The famous author Anais Nin once said that “we write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospect.” Inspired by this idea, we cap off our TRAIL program with the Oredigger Record of Experience (ORE). The ORE provides a platform to help students capture, record and effectively communicate their out of classroom learning experiences at Mines.

With an ORE in hand upon graduation, students will be able to effortlessly share their unique and valuable experiences with potential employers or graduate schools. But in the end, the most valuable aspect of the ORE is that they’ll have a record of who they were at Mines and how that shaped them into the person they’ll be as they continue their journey.
