The following message was sent to the entire Mines campus on 4/23/20:

Dear Campus Community,

Based on reported illnesses of people working in Alderson Hall we have decided to temporarily close Alderson Hall effective immediately until 7 a.m. Monday, April 27. This means Alderson Hall will be closed to all access until Monday, even if you work in the building or have previously been given access to a research laboratory.

If you need to enter the building to safely suspend laboratory equipment or experiments until Monday, or if you need to obtain materials to teach a class prior to Monday, please contact Peter Han (phan@mines.edu) or Mike Kaufman (mkaufman@mines.edu). Access will be given only on a limited basis and only for a short duration. Extra safety precautions will also be required for anyone accessing Alderson during this closure.

Common areas of Alderson Hall, including restrooms, will be thoroughly cleaned Sunday evening. EHS will provide laboratories with spray bottles of isopropyl alcohol for disinfecting and equipment necessary to clean inside laboratories.  Custodial staff, as current practice, will not be cleaning inside laboratories.

Thank you for your understanding as we take this extra step to help protect the safety of our community. We apologize for the inconvenience of this temporary closure of the building.
