Student researchers share their findings at Fall Undergraduate Research Symposium

Praise Olusoji, a Quantitative Biosciences and Engineering major, discusses her research during the event. The fall symposium showcases the work of Mines' Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship scholars, in addition to students who conducted summer research through programs such as NSF REU.

The Office of Undergraduate Research Scholars provides Mines students with a wide array of opportunities to conduct cutting-edge research led by Mines faculty mentors throughout the year. This fall's symposium was made possible by the generous support of Mines alum Dr. Joe W. Gray ’68.

Second-year student Mukund Gurumurthi spent his summer conducting research on nanobody therapeutics with Alexander Pak, assistant professor of chemical and biological engineering. Undergraduate research fellowships and opportunities are available to Mines students from all disciplines.

Caleb McGrath, an undergraduate research assistant in the Kumar Biomaterials Lab, shares his work related to gene therapies with a fellow student during the symposium. Undergraduate students at Mines have the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research and innovation aimed at solving significant challenges facing human society.
