Project Goals and Description:
This project seeks to explore engineering student identify formation and how students interpret and navigate cultural signals prevalent in engineering educational environments, both formal and information. The project's goals will help us understand the mechanisms of inclusion and exclusion that make "fitting in" easier or more difficult for variously situated participants.

Student Preparation
Qualifications
Student must be minimally experienced with educational research or qualitative research methods.
TIME COMMITMENT (HRS/WK)

SKILLS/TECHNIQUES GAINED
Student will gain experience with qualitative methods (interviews, transcription, coding, and analysis), educational research, and critical understandings of cultural reproduction.
MENTORING PLAN
Biweekly meetings with small research group, with vertical mentorship of more-junior members with more-senior members.
