International Student Orientation
Congratulations on your admission to Colorado School of Mines!
Welcome to Colorado School of Mines! Our International Student Orientation is required and designed to provide you with information about resources available to you and assist in your transition to the campus and surrounding community. During orientation, you will hear from office representatives from across campus on topics such as Student Health Insurance, Student Health Center, Adjusting to Life in the United States, Public Safety, and Maintaining Your Visa Status. Attending orientation not only provides you with an opportunity to learn about Mines and the resources available to you, it also allows for you to meet other new students! You can find the complete orientation schedule above. Please note that attendance is required at all orientation sessions. Make sure to register to the event and check-in after arriving to the United States using the buttons below. If you do not attend required sessions, a registration hold will be placed on your record for the following semester. We look forward to seeing you there!

International Student Orientation
Date: Saturday, August 30th.
Undergraduate Time: 9am – 12pm MST
Graduate Time: 1pm – 4pm MST
Location: Metals Hall, Green Center (924 16th St, Golden)
International Student Orientation is an important part of your time at Mines as an F1 or J1 visa holder. If you know in advance that you won’t be able to attend the in-person orientation, you need to email ISSS for the makeup session information.
Please note that the International Student Orientation is separate from the undergraduate, graduate, and departmental orientation events. All international students who are present in the US on August 30th are required to attend International Student Orientation.
Colorado School of Mines is located in the town of Golden, CO. The closest airport to Golden is Denver International Airport (DEN). All students need to plan their travel from the airport to Golden. See Pre-Arrival Immigration Checklist here for more information on travel to Golden.

New International Student Check-in
For all Incoming new F-1 and J-1 students who have arrived to the United States. Please complete your check in after you have landed in the United States. You can find the Check In under the Requests Tab in your International Student Portal.
Departmental Student Orientation Information
Please refer to your academic department for further details. Not all departments offer a separate orientation. However, if your department does offer an orientation, and it is mandatory, please be sure to attend.
