Instrument Details

The South Bay Model 350 Rotary Disc Cutter is a precision instrument which is designed to precisely align and cut discs or drill holes from a wide range of materials using  a tube-shaped brass tool with an abrasive slurry (SiC powder). The most common application for the instrument is to cut 3.0mm discs for TEM specimens. Ideal sample thickness is 100-200 µm but thicker samples (>500 um up to a few mm) can be easily cut through using this tool.
