Security and Privacy in Computer Gaming

Guannan Liu

Project Goals and Description:

Computer gaming has become a multi-billion industry for many decades. Unfortunately, the security and privacy dimensions of computer games have been largely neglected by both existing research and the industry. In this project, we will design scientific and systematic approaches to identify vulnerabilities in computer games and their add-ons (game mods, DLCs, etc.). We will investigate potential attack vectors that can be exploited using the vulnerabilities we uncover. Furthermore, we will propose novel mitigation strategies to defend against security threats in computer gaming.
