Application Process

The Graduate School at Mines recommends you use the online application when applying to our graduate programs.

complete application is required for consideration for acceptance into a graduate program for our current Mines undergraduatesU.S. citizens and permanent residents, and international applicants.

Non-Degree Applicants and Foreign Exchange Students

If you are interested in taking non-degree courses, or courses as a foreign exchange student, and you have already obtained a bachelor’s degree, you are required to complete the graduate application as well.

Starting your application

We begin your application file after you have submitted and paid for your application. Your application does not have to be complete for submission. We will add application materials to a submitted application as it is received. You can check the status of your application online using your application PIN and password. 

All application materials should be uploaded electronically with your application. Additional documents can be mailed, if necessary, directly to the Office of Graduate Studies.

When all of the required application materials have been received, your application is complete and the Office of Graduate Studies submits your application to the department for review.

Communication and Deadlines

You will receive email messages during this process. Please make sure your email on file is valid.

It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that all application materials are received by the deadline date.

Application Decisions

After an application has been reviewed by the department, the decision is sent to the Office of Graduate Studies. You will be notified of your official decision letter from the Dean of Graduate Studies via email. Additionally, some departments will send an informational letter in the mail or via email.
