RESIDENCE LIFE

LEARNING THROUGH LIVING AT MINES

We believe living on campus fosters student learning, development, and personal growth. We show dedication to our students by creating experiences and physical spaces that recognize the unique challenges and opportunities of being an Oredigger at Colorado School of Mines. We are committed to providing intentional learning by facilitating a safe, inclusive, and academically focused environment. We challenge and encourage students to be critical thinkers and civically-engaged leaders in a diverse global community.

What to know about Vaccination vs. Non-vaccination

Mines announced early the week of 6/7/21 that a vaccination requirement has been placed on all students, staff, and faculty. This requirement is meant to place our community in the best place possible to return to in-person, safe living and learning at Mines. There are exemption choices for those who cannot or do not want to be vaccinated. Please visit the Mines Vaccination information page (click this link) for more information.

For those students who are choosing to live in Residence Life housing for the 21-22 academic year please know that the CDC recommends regular COVID-19 testing, quarantine or isolation for symptomatic or positive testing students who are unvaccinated. We continue to strongly recommend that those without vaccines  wear masks, and keep 6 ft. distance from others. We may ask unvaccinated community members to test upon arrival at Mines, and continue regular testing throughout the year. Unvaccinated students who are close contacts of a positive case, or are positive themselves, will be mandated to quarantine. Quarantining students are not permitted to attend class or participate in activities for the entire duration of quarantine (14 days).

Residence Life has lifted the first-year student live on requirement!

First year students (including transfer students) are not required to live on campus during the 2021-2022 academic year. Due to the large incoming first-year class, and the ongoing pandemic, our students can make the choice to live where they are most comfortable. Close proximity, congregate housing is not everyone’s comfort level, we encourage you to choose the living situation that is right for you. At home with family in the Golden/Denver area, in an off campus apartment/home with roommates, or on campus in the residence halls.

We anticipate the residence halls being full this year, with no space for isolation or quarantine for students who are sick with COVID-19.
