This page is where you will find important dates and deadlines for the academic year. The Academic Calendar Committee determines dates that are posted. If there are dates that are missing or if you have questions about the academic calendar please email registrar@mines.edu.
Spring 2024
JANUARY 8 – CONFIRMATION DEADLINE
All students confirm attendance for the Spring semester.
JANUARY 9 – START SPRING 16-WK & ONLINE ONLY FIRST 8-WK SESSION
Classes begin for the 16-week sessions and the online only first 8-week session.
JANUARY 12 – GRADUATE STUDENT REGISTRATION DEADLINE
Late fees are applied after this date.
JANUARY 15 – MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY HOLIDAY
Campus is closed.
JANUARY 16 – LAST DAY TO ADD CLASSES FOR 16-WK SESSION (EXCLUDES ONLINE COURSES)
JANUARY 16 – LAST DAY TO ADD & DROP ONLINE ONLY FIRST 8-WK SESSION
JANUARY 24 – CENSUS DAY & LAST DAY TO DROP CLASSES FOR 16-WK SESSION (EXCLUDES ONLINE COURSES)
Census day is the deadline to: drop courses with a 100% refund, change course sections, request courses for no credit, complete Registration Action Forms, withdraw from terms completely with a 100% refund, add or drop waitlists, and authorize a College Opportunity Fund (COF).
JANUARY 25 – TERM BILL DUE DATE
Tuition payment due.
JANUARY 30 & 31 – CAREER DAY
No-Assessment Days.
FEBRUARY 9 – FOUNDER’S DAY

Last day to withdraw from courses in the online only first 8-week session.
MARCH 4 – MIDTERM GRADES DUE
MARCH 5 – CLASSES END FOR ONLINE ONLY FIRST 8-WK SESSION
MARCH 11 – CLASSES START FOR ONLINE ONLY SECOND 8-WK SESSION
Classes begin for online only second 8-week session.
MARCH 16-24 – SPRING BREAK
MARCH 18 – FINAL GRADES DUE FOR ONLINE ONLY FIRST 8-WK SESSION
MARCH 18 – LAST DAY TO ADD & DROP ONLINE ONLY SECOND 8-WK SESSION
APRIL 1-5 – PRIORITY REGISTRATION FOR SUMMER & FALL TERMS
Registration times during the week of priority registration are assigned by a student’s class level and last name.
APRIL 12 – LAST COURSE WITHDRAWAL FOR 16-WK SESSION (EXCLUDES ONLINE COURSES)
Last day to withdraw from courses in the 16-week session.
APRIL 12-14 – E DAYS
No Class Days on Friday. No assessments on Monday, April 15, 2024.
APRIL 25 – LAST COURSE WITHDRAWAL FOR ONLINE ONLY SECOND 8-WK SESSION
Last day to withdraw from courses for online only second 8-week session.

No-Exams.

Summer 2024
MAY 13 – START SUMMER 14-WK SESSION & FIRST 6-WK SESSION
Classes begin for the 14-week and first 6-week sessions.
MAY 17 – CENSUS DAY & LAST DAY TO ADD/DROP CLASSES FOR 14-WK SESSION
Census day is the deadline to: add or drop full term (14 week) courses. This is also the deadline to change course sections, request courses for no credit, complete Registration Action Forms, withdraw from terms completely with a 100% refund, add or drop waitlists, and authorize a College Opportunity Fund (COF).
Note: Second 6-week and 8-week summer sessions have their own add/drop deadlines listed on the academic calendar below.
MAY 17 – LAST DAY TO ADD & DROP FIRST 6-WK SESSION

JUNE 7 – LAST COURSE WITHDRAWAL FOR FIRST 6-WK SESSION
Last day to withdraw from courses in the first 6-week session. No refund issued for withdrawing.

JUNE 21 – CLASSES END FOR FIRST 6-WK SESSION
JUNE 24 – FINAL GRADES DUE FOR FIRST 6-WK SESSION
JUNE 24 – START SUMMER 8-WK AND SECOND 6-WK SESSION
Classes begin for the 8-week and second 6-week sessions.
JUNE 28 – LAST DAY TO ADD/DROP SECOND 6-WK SESSION
Last day to add or drop courses for the second 6-week session only with a 100% refund.
JULY 1 – LAST DAY TO ADD/DROP 8-WK SESSION
Last day to add and/or drop courses for the 8-week session only with a 100% refund.
JULY 4 – INDEPENDENCE DAY HOLIDAY
Campus closed.
JULY 19 – LAST COURSE WITHDRAWAL FOR SECOND 6-WK SESSION
Last day to withdraw from courses in the second 6-week sessions.
AUGUST 2 – LAST COURSE WITHDRAWAL FOR 14-WK & 8-WK SESSION
