FF Hold
A student who twice fails a required course at Colorado School of Mines and is not subject to academic suspension will automatically be placed on “special hold” status with the Registrar, regardless of the student’s cumulative or semester GPA. The student must receive approval from the CASA major advisor in the department of the twice-failed course to remove the hold before being allowed to register.
Transfer credit from another school will not be accepted for a twice-failed course.
FF Hold Removal Process
- Complete the FF Hold Removal Form from the Registrar’s Office (click here).
- The completed form will sent to CASA. You’ll receive information on how to schedule an appointment with your advisor.
- Be prepared to discuss how your performance in the class will change, and what tools are available to achieve a different outcome the next time you attempt the course.
- After meeting with your advisor, they and the advisor in the department of your twice-failed course will discuss your FF hold and will decide if your hold can be removed or if further information is needed.
- CASA will either remove the hold from your account or will contact you if another meeting is needed.
FFF Hold
In the case of three or more Fs in the same course, the student must meet with the faculty Readmissions Committee and receive permission to remove the hold before being allowed to attend classes the following semester. Transfer credit from another school will not be accepted for a twice-failed course.
