If you are a Junior and interested in doing research this summer (and getting paid), check out the 2024 STAR Program! Applications available now to Mines’ students because T@M is a NSF Robert Noyce Scholarship program! A recent T@M alumni participated in this program and said that it was amazing! ‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏‌ ͏

STAR fellows earn $555/week plus support for housing and relocation if you move more than 50 miles from your home to participate in the program! This is a 9-week summer program that runs June 10th, 2024 – August 9th, 2024. Most of the sites can accommodate alternate schedules, so don’t hesitate to apply even if you need scheduling details to be ironed out, STAR is happy to converse about options.

The priority deadline for applications is February 15, 2024. At that time, the participating lab sites below will begin their review process for placement.

  1. The Institute for Systems Biology is a non-profit biomedical research organization located in Seattle, Washington. They work on large-scale human health challenges using a strong-interdisciplinary approach.
  2. The NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory is located in Pasadena, CA. They are NASA’s lead center for the robotic exploration of the solar system. JPL designs, builds, and operates satellites and rovers.
  3. The Scripps Institution of Oceanography is based in the town of La Jolla near San Diego, California.  Scripps is self described as working “to understand and protect the planet and find solutions to our most pressing environmental challenges.”

Check out lab site videos from previous participants outlining their research projects and laboratory placements.
