TEA Meetings

9/12/23: CK282 – 4p-5p – Career Fair PrepAttend to learn how to tailor your applications, resumes, and job fair prep to the K-12 education industry. Learn about the K12 education industry and a myriad of job search tips and tricks. We will cover how applications, resumes, and job fairs differ from the engineering industry.

9/19/2023: CK370 – 4p-5p – TEA and Games This is an opportunity for anyone to destress by playing board games and drinking tea. Students can have discussions around teaching, their experiences in the classroom, and hopes for the future

9/26/2023: CK282 – 4p–5p – TEA and Trivia – This is an opportunity for students interested in the education sector to meet like-minded peers by playing trivia and drinking tea. Students can have discussions around teaching, their experiences in the classroom, and hopes for the future.

10/3/2023: CK282 – 4p–5p – TEA Time: This is an opportunity for students interested in the education sector to meet like-minded peers by hanging out and drinking tea. Students can have discussions around teaching, their experiences in the classroom, and hopes for the future.

10/5/2023: MZ126 – 5p-6:30p – Teacher Panel: This is an opportunity for students interested in teaching to ask current professionals about their experiences. We will have current teachers from local districts as well as Mines Alumni that have gone in to education come and speak to current Mines students.

10/10/23: CK282 – 4p–5p – Teacher Thank You Event: Students will write thank you cards to local teachers to show their appreciation.

10/17/23: CK282 – 4p–5p – Pumpkin Painting: As a part of Fall Break, TEA will host a pumpkin painting party to help students celebrate the fall and destress from the midterm
season.

10/24/23: CK282 – 4p–5p –New Teacher Night: Recent Mines graduates will return to talk with students interested in teaching to give them tips and tricks for the first few years on the job. This will also help to build the relationship between current members and alumni members of the club.

10/31/23: CK282 – 4p–5p – TEA and Caramel Apples: As a Halloween celebration, TEA will provide supplies for a fun snack of caramel apples. Students will be able to socialize with like minded peers and discuss the role teaching plays in their future.

11/7/2023: CK282 – 4p–5p – Science Slam Prep: This meeting will serve as a time for any ScienceSlam participants to come and ask questions about the event and get teaching tips about how to most effectively communicate their topic.

11/9/2023: 6p-7:30p – Petroleum Hall – Science Slam! Students will participate in a
presentation-style competition where they will present on topics they are passionate about and the person who communicates their content most effectively will win.

11/14/23: CK282 – 4p–5p – DI&A Event: Students will have an opportunity to hear from educators of diverse backgrounds about their experiences in the classroom.

11/28/23: CK282 – 4p–5p – TEA Time: This is an opportunity for students interested in the education sector to meet like-minded peers by hanging out and drinking tea. Students can have discussions around teaching, their experiences in the classroom, and hopes for the future.

12/5/2023: CK282 – 4p–5p – Mindfulness Jars with TEA and PeerEd: We will host a workshop on mindfulness and provide all the supplies and instructions for how to build snow-globe-esque jars to support mindful coping mechanisms around finals.

12/7/2023: 10a- 2p Student Center – TEA Tabling: We will provide tea and hot chocolate to all MINES students during the week before finals for free.
